This Painted Turtle was on land, possibly to lay eggs. Taking this shot from about 8 feet allowed this
close up of the turtle's face. This was taken on a sunny day, but daytime flash allowed better
illumination. Painted turtle adults are about 6 inches wide.
A Northern Pearly Eyed Butterfly, uncropped, taken from a distance of about 10 feet, daytime flash
helped to illuminate the underside of the near wing.
